Rare English Medieval PadLock
Extremely Rare English Medieval Lock! Iron padlock with rectangular body, one of the
curved sides containing the keyhole. What a beauty!
Probably late 14th / early 15th century but not later than the end of the medieval period.
Ex English collection & from the famous Billingsgate site on the Thames which yielded many keys in the 1980s. 9.6 cms long.
In typical superb condition for an iron item which has been excavated from the depths of the Thames mud. It should be noted that locks are considerably more rare than the keys which fitted them.
